Meta just released a tool that helps computers ‘see’ objects in images
Meta: Meta released new AI tool SAM, know what is its specialty, how will it work

Facebook's parent Meta has released an artificial intelligence (AI) model called SAM to help find objects inside photos and videos. The company has named this tool as Segment Anything Model ie SAM. The company said that the release of SAM will see more such things in the technology.
Meta said that SAM can identify objects within images and videos. It has come to the fore in the specialty of this tool that it also finds out those things which have never had anything to do with it. With this new AI tool, when asked in a test to select cats from a photo, this tool selected them all and then gave the correct result.
Using SAM, objects can be read about by clicking on them or by typing a text prompt. Meta already uses SAM-like technology internally to tag photos, moderate prohibited content, and determine what is prohibited. And now it can be used in a big way.
The new tool will prove to be very helpful for content creators as with its help they can directly search any part from inside any photo or video. The SAM model and dataset will be available for download under a non-commercial license. Similarly users uploading their images with a prototype must agree to use it for research purposes only.
AI has come a long way in recent months nationally and globally after the release of the popular ChatGPT AI. Chat GPT created a worldwide sensation by achieving one million traffic in just one week. Now this tool has become a topic of discussion all over the world and seeing this, many other companies are also working on their chatbots and AI.
The scope of Meta's SAM
Users can select objects by using SAM. In addition, they can also write text prompts to perform the same tasks. For instance, writing the word "cat" in a demonstration prompted SAM to draw boxes around each cat in the picture.
Given the hype of AI tools, propelled by ChatGPT and the more advanced GPT 4.0 - both created by OpenAI, Big Tech giants like Meta and Microsoft are cashing in on the hype. Microsoft has gone far enough to imbibe ChatGPT's capabilities into its Bing search engine along with its Office suite.
Meta is currently working on a myriad of tools that are focused on artificial intelligence - including a tool that creates surrealist videos from text prompts and another one that generates children's book illustrations from prose, Reuters reported.
After hyping its metaverse ambitions (that seem to have fizzled out), Zuckerberg has vowed to incorporate AI "creative aids" into Meta's apps by the end of this year.Mark Zuckerberg's
AI is already in use across the tech world, though, including in Meta. To moderate prohibited content and for recommendation purposes on Instagram and Facebook, Meta already uses artificial intelligence tech similar to SAM.
