LSST 3.2 GigaPixel Camera.
The LSST camera will have a field of view that is 10 square degrees, which is equivalent to 40 full moons. It will be capable of capturing images of the entire visible southern sky in just three nights and will generate approximately 30 terabytes of data each night.
The LSST camera is expected to be completed and installed on the telescope by 2024. Once operational, it will be used to conduct a 10-year survey of the southern sky, capturing images of billions of galaxies, stars, and other celestial objects. The data collected by the LSST will be used by scientists to study the universe's origins and evolution, dark matter and energy, and other important astronomical questions.
